As Trauts awoke in a cold sweat his realization of impending doom gnawed at his insides like a hot dagger. His wooden leg was now showing early signs of wood rot where the knot had dropped out. 


This previously was a good omen it seemed, as the hardwood knot was perfect to carve a replacement eye for the one lost in a courageous toothpick fight with the knight that went nicht!! 

It seemed that life indeed was going uphill.
