Heritage Resource Management Associates is a consulting company that provides services related to the management of specialized archives and the training of archives personnel. We have an emphasis on the conservation, and the digital management of sound and moving image archival materials.

An archives contains records that are carefully selected for their enduring historical, administrative, legal and/or fiscal value. Organizations use their archives to support public relations and advertising, employee orientation, fund-raising and development, and litigation strategy. Recently there has been a trend to use archival assets to generate revenue for organizations.

Who We Are:

W. Mark Ritchie Consulting Archivist

The Senior Associate, Mr. Ritchie has over 25 years experience in sound and moving image archives and libraries, and in education and training. He has many years of experience in the design and implementation of computerized cataloguing systems and the application of computer technology to educational and heritage organizations. A member of the Association of Canadian Archivists, the Association of Moving Image Archivists, and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.


Barbara R. Patterson Education Facilitator

A Senior Associate, Ms Patterson has over 25 years experience in education and training. She has extensive development and presentation experience, in-depth knowledge of training methodologies including needs analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation, as well as experience in the application of computers for graphic design.

Heritage Resource Management Associates has other Associates who will provide their particular specialized knowledge as required.
