ANNUAL THEME

Each year the ministry focuses on an annual theme. The theme for 2006-2007 is

Livin' the Secret! Having a Thankful Heart

There is a hunger that spans the generations that keeps resurfacing in our world. It's a hunger for satisfaction, joy and contentment. People look for satisfaction and joy in the work place, the mall, and entertainment. Coffeehouses and spas are filled with people who are seeking inner peace and contentment. Girls look for happiness in popularity, in stuff, in success, and fame with their peers. Many girls live by a "just-one-more" mentality. Just give me one more pair of jeans, just one more CD, must one more win on the soccer field...then I'll be happy.

Pursuing contentment and joy in finite objects will fail -- every time.

Join us this year as we mentor the girls into an understanding that there is a way to seek satisfaction that lasts longer then a two hour movie, or until you become bored of a new CD. Satisfaction can be found in Christ alone! When Christ is our Lord and Saviour, we can give thanks in every circumstance. Our joy will overflow from a thankful heart that celebrates that every part of life is a gracious, lavish gift from our Heavenly Father. God is good. His love endures forever!

 

HOW TO SIGN UP?

The Gems program at First Christian Reformed Church begins in mid September and lasts until April. The program runs weekly on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 pm.

GEMS Girls' Clubs is a relationship building, club program created especially for girls!

GEMS Girls' Clubs are offered in local churches and other Christian organizations all across Canada .

Girls in first through eighth grades are eligible for membership. In club, many fun and exciting things happen:

•  Participate in team building

•  Enjoy dynamic singing, creative movement, signing, and dance

•  Develop important life skills through badge activities

•  Learn how to apply the Bible to your life

•  Make creative and fun crafts Participate in service projects that make a difference in other's lives

•  Find answers to challenges that face girls today

 

 

 

The purpose of GEMS Girls' Clubs is to bring girls into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. To help foster this all-important relationship between each girl and Christ, other relationships are nurtured as well - between girls and between girls and their counsellor (leader).

Girls in clubs are organized into small groups with one leader or counsellor for each group of six to eight girls. And it is through these small groups, and the weekly interactions that take place in club that faith is nurtured and developed, and long lasting friendships are made.
