Purpose and Vision Statements

Intent:

The intent of these statements for our church community is to clearly and concisely identify 'What we do', 'Why we do them', 'Why we exist in Guelph', 'What the vision of this church community is', and 'How that vision will become a reality'. Early in the life of First CRC, Guelph, these statements were unspoken yet understood. Today, with changing times and changing membership, we need to clearly understand them. These statements are the result of much prayer, listening, learning, discovering and discerning of God's will, our values, our context and our role as Christians in this city and this world.

Core Values:

As people called by God,

we gather to praise God, listen to him, and respond.

We nurture each other in faith and obedience to Christ.

We love and care for one another as God's people.

We commit ourselves to serve and tell others about Jesus.

We pursue God's justice and peace in every area of life.

Ministry Values:

• Prayer is a vital part of our congregational and personal lifes.
• Worship pleases God and shapes our lives.
• Welcoming new people and caring for one another is our response to God's love.
• Witnessing is a call from God.
• Teaching and preaching of God's Word enable God's people to grow spiritually.

In all we do, we uphold these values with

passion, intentionality and excellence to God's glory.

 

Purpose:

To KNOW, SHOW and

GROW in Jesus Christ.

To Know the love of God the Father,
To Show the love of Jesus Christ, and
To Grow in the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

Vision:

• The First CRC of Guelph is a growing church family on a journey with God.
• Here, diversity is healthy and unity in Christ is celebrated.
• Each member belongs to a small group, is loved and encouraged, and uses at least one gift in ministry.
• With God's help, ministries are purposeful, coordinated, relevant and well-resourced to meet community needs;
• Leaders and staff are gifted and equipped through training and mentoring;
• The facilities enhance ministries and growth.
