Filtering SPAM in M2, Opera's Built-in E-mail Client

The Opera 7 (M2) e-mail client can be configured to read incoming e-mail headers and filter messages into a SPAM folder based on these headers. E-mails that pass through Sentex, and are considered to be SPAM, are marked as having SPAM content in the hidden header area of the message.

Follow these steps to have Opera's M2 transfer suspected SPAM e-mails to a “SPAM” folder:

  1. Start Opera 7.

  2. Select Mail from the top toolbar.

  3. Click on Filters.

  4. Click the Add Filter button.

  5. Change the first drop-down menu (right of the word "Match") to show Any Header.

  6. Change the second drop-down menu (right of the first drop-down menu) to show Contains.

  7. Next to the Contains option, type (without the quotes) “X-Spam-Status: Yes”

  8. Change the third drop-down list (right of  "Internal Filters" to show Off.

  9. Click on the button OK.

Note: Click on the hide/show SPAM button while viewing your list of messages to hide or show your spam.

To view the hidden e-mail headers in Opera 7 do the following:
After you have opened a message, click on the “Display all headers” link at the top right-hand side of the message window.
