Microsoft Outlook
- When you start Outlook for the first time, you will be presented
with the start-up window. Simply click Next
to begin your Outlook configuration. If you already have Outlook
installed on your system, and are not presented with the wizard,
you can skip to the fifth step below.
- Outlook gives you the option to import your mail settings from
another currently set-up client. If you are moving to Outlook
from another mail client (such as Outlook Express), simply select
the previous one from the list, and click Next.
Outlook will then import your current settings, and you will be
finished. Otherwise, select None of the above,
and click Next to continue. Note that if you
do not have any other installed e-mail client, you may not see
this screen.

-
The next screen lets you choose your service option. Select
Internet Only, and click Next
to continue.
-
You may be presented with the following warning message. Simply
click on Yes, as Sentex Communications provides
POP3 or IMAP servers instead of an Exchange Server.

At this point, you can skip ahead to step six, as the following
step is for those who have not been using the Wizard to configure
Outlook.
-
Click on the Tools menu, and select the
Accounts... option. The following window
will open:

From there, click on the Mail tab, then
the Add button, and the Mail
option. You will be asked to enter your full name this
is the name that e-mail messages sent with Outlook Express will
appear to be from. In this case, John Smith. Click on Next.
-
Next you will be prompted to enter your e-mail address. This
is your Sentex userid followed by @sentex.net. Then
click Next to continue.
-
To set up your E-mail servers, set your incoming mail server
as a POP3 or IMAP server. In the first box, enter mail.sentex.net
as your incoming mail server. For your outgoing mail server,
enter smtp.sentex.net:

-
Next you have to enter your account information. The first
field is your account name this is your Sentex userid,
the portion of your e-mail address before the @
symbol. In addition, you will need to enter your password. Click
Next.
-
Next you will be presented with the Connection Options screen:

At this point, you will be prompted as to how you wish to connect
to the Internet. If you use a LAN, you should probably select the
second option. Otherwise, you have two options.
Selecting the first will require you to set up your Sentex dialup
account for use with Outlook, and will give Outlook the ability
to connect to the Internet any time it wishes to retrieve your e-mail.
If you do not want Outlook to connect to the Internet whenever
it likes, simply select the final option, and click Next
to continue.
Congratulations! You have now set up Microsoft Outlook to
be your Sentex Communications e-mail client.
