World Cities - When were they founded?
On a recent Internet search, I was able to find few pages with
a list of cities,a brief description,
and the dates where they were founded, so I decided
to write my own! This list is (very) incomplete so far - my emphasis is
on ancient cities or major world cities - but I'm intending to put
more on. If you want to help me or you can provide more accurate

- Dresden, Germany
- Originally a Slavonic settlement started in 922 A.D.
- Dublin, Ireland
- Founded in the 9th century by Viking Raiders as a trading post.
- Essen, Germany
- Ruhr Valley city founded in the 9th century.
- Glasgow, Scotland
- Founded in the 6th century by Irish missionaries.
- Hamburg, Germany
- Founded after 800 A.D. by Emperor Charlemagne.
- Kiev, Ukraine
- On Dnieper river; founded in 882 A.D. as a Viking trading post.

- Tbilisi, Georgia
- Also known as Tiflis; modern-day capital of Georgia; founded in the 4th century B.C.
- Yerevan, Armenia
- Modern-day capital of Armenia; founded around 800 B.C.
