Family History Details
In 1851 (census), James and Mary lived at Bowling, Bradford, West Yorkshire, sharing their
home with unmarried daughter Margaret, newlyweds James and Rhoda Brown,
married daughter Harriot, married daughter Martha, and her husband and three children.
By 1861 (census), James and Mary Beanland had moved to Osmondthorpe Fold, Osmondthorpe,
East Leeds, close to the home of daughter Rhoda and her husband James Brown,
sharing their home with daughter Harriot and her daughter Ann, as well as grandson
Isaac Beanland.
In 1871, James had died and widow Mary was living with her daughter Martha's family
(the Hazelwoods), next door to daughter Rhoda and her husband James Brown,
still at Osmondthorpe Fold.
James Beanland was a worsted hand loom weaver in 1851 (at age 59) and a labourer
at "the pitts" in 1861 (age 69). Before marriage, daughter Margaret worked as a
worsted power loom weaver.
