In what was Pauls last canonical letter, 2
Timothy, the apostle urges the man who was his closest co-worker
and friend to guard the Christian faith through the power of the
indwelling Spirit (2 Tim 1:14). And then, to give this appeal substance
and shape, Paul tells him that he must guard the faith by passing
it on to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2
Tim 2:2). Theological education, for that is exactly what Paul is
talking about in this verse, is still vital for the church. Without
it, the church
will flounder.
Carey Outreach Ministries has been founded for this
very purpose of providing theological education for countries once
within the communist orbit of eastern Europe and for developing third-world
countries. This ministry is squarely Reformed in its theological
convictions and has taken for its statement of faith what is known
as the 1689 Confession of Faith.
The students
are unable to pay for all of their courses, and thus the second reason
for this letter. Would you and/or your church be willing to support
three or four students @ $120.00 per student per year? You may want
to support more and that would be great, but would you please consider
supporting at least three? We firmly believe that this is a worthy
cause.
Please pray for us, as we work for Gods glory
and the establishment of Christ-honouring congregations throughout
this part of the world, and please consider supporting this ministry
financially. Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration of
this letter.
I am cordially yours in Christ.
Dr. Michael A. G. Haykin,
for the Board of Directors of Carey Outreach Ministries
