Variation of copyright date and actual release.
General rule: we'll tend to side with the latest date.
Some publishers are too optimistic/disorganized and end up
with books being distributed much later than intended. So you
have books with a 2002 copyright being released in 2003. The Aurora
administrators have to deal with this on a case by case basis, but
will usually use the actual release. In this example the book would
probably be treated (for eligibility purposes) as a 2003 book,
rather than 2002.
Some publishers are too cautious about copyright dates and end up
with books appearing too early. For example a book being launched
mid-fall 2001 with a 2002 copyright. The Aurora administrators have
to deal with this on a case by case basis, but will usually use
the copyright date. In this example the book would probably be
treated (for eligibility purposes) as a 2002 book, rather than 2001.

publication, available in Canada).
