Fun Day 2007, 20 Years Later and Still Going Great!
Wheaten Fun Day at Springbank Park, Saturday June 30, 2007
Well we could not have asked for better weather, the day was beautiful and we had a nice location at SpringBank Park in London. We ended up with about 35 wheatens attending and many more human companions/families. 10 applications for membership were completed and paid for, and a few others interested took the membership applications with them. Great fun was had by all. We had three participants in the Parade of Veterans, Tia -9 yrs, Owen 8 plus yrs, and Indi 13 plus years. There was a kiss off to break a tie for the kissing contest with Thomas & Ellie and Susan & Ricardh. Ellie was the winner at 58 kisses in one minute!
The winner of the costume contest was Fenmore, dressed as a bee, although the bride, and Canada Day Flag wheaten were definitely runners up.
We were very fortunate to receive items from all of the following members and sponsors:
Purina, Pet Supply House, Norma Miller, Monica Brauer & Lou Anne, Peggy Gale, Cathy Astrella, Sylvia & Bill Hamilton, Jolijne Ubbink, Anne Holahan, Kristen Williams, Gwen & John Collard, Martins Food, K9Grooming supplies.com, Showline and Healthy Paws. Prizes for the auction & raffle ranged from stained glass items, lawn decorations, leashes, toys, bones, dematters, shampoo, dog beds to a crate. Participants also benefited from a grooming demo by local groomer Tracy Savoy who donated her time and spoke about properly combing out and dematting a wheaten. Everyone seemed to especially enjoy her demonstration.
Special thanks to Gwen Collard and her family, Cathy Astrella, Fran Talbot, and Nicole Moreland, all who were so very helpful, making the day very enjoyable.
Remember that the Fun Day always takes place rain or shine!
