We are currently feeding our puppies Eukanuba Medium Breed Puppy, a kibble. Your Puppy is not on the raw BARF diet. The following was written as though he/she is eating the BARF diet and included here for your reference only.
Your Puppy will be eating a diet of raw food when he/she goes home. Your puppy will be eating 2 1/2 oz of veggie mix a day and about 2 oz of raw chicken three times a day - but you should gradually increase this amount so by 4 months he/she is eating the 5 oz of veggie mix and 4 oz to 5 oz of chicken two times a day. Our adults generally eat one meal a day consisting of 12oz - 16 oz of chicken and 5 oz of veggie mix. Our dogs over 6 months old fast one day a week.
I will be sending home enough ground chicken for three days.
This will allow you to continue on the raw diet (which I strongly
suggest) or use this food to gradually switch over to kibble.
If you choose to continue on this raw diet you will not need to
grind the chicken as their teeth will be able to chew the meat
and bones just fine.
You will find info about the BARF diet, etc below. There are
people who sell the BARF diet already prepared if you feel preparing
the food is too involved at first. Many people start this way
and then at a later time prepare their own.
Books, you will need to read about the
BARF diet as it isn't as simple as feeding raw chicken and staying
to the basic veggie mix below.
You can also find a treasure trove of information by searching
in http://www.google.com/
for "BARF" or "BARF diet".
