These showmanship reference materials were designed in 1995 in conjunction with Holstein Canada, as an attempt to teach and standardize proper dairy showmanship to breeders, 4-H members and judges. All material was prepared in both French and English and distributed free of charge to all provinces, breed assciation, Ontario Holstein Clubs and the Ontario 4-H Council. Additional videos are available from the Branch Office at a cost of $16.05 (Includes GST). Extra copies of the manual are free.

a second educational video and manual entitled, “Preparing to Lead”.
Intended for those who are interested in learning more about show preparation, this new video details the many steps involved beginning with selecting a calf to last minute showring grooming.
Subjects covered include “Training your calf; Caring for Feet, Transporting your Calf; Washing your Calf’; Clipping at home and at the Show; Filling your Calf and Organizing your Show Equipment.”

It is designed for 4-H members, progressive milk producers, official judges, or anyone that will be assessing and comparing one animal to another, either in the barn or at the show.
Subjects covered include “Parts of a True Type Dairy Cow, Structural Defects and Discriminations, Comparing Individual Parts of Cows, Preferred Show Ring Procedures’; Description of Heifer parts and Relative emphasis, Placing a heifer class and Formulating Reasons, and Giving Good Reasons”
