[City Hall pic] Construction on the City Hall was begun in 1898 after the old structure was destroyed by fire.
If you go inside the main entrance, you will find an engraved plaque on the right hand wall; the plaque was initially commissioned at the inception of the building, but there was a problem with the text.
The assistant architect was J.W Siddall, and the inscription reads:

"ASS ARCHITECT"

and the stonemason never received any financial incentive to correct the error--

so here it remains for all to see.
