Our Robinson family arrived at Port Hope, Ontario, Canada in 1819 emigrating from Dent, County of Yorkshire, England. By 1821, they had settled in Smith Township, Peterborough County, Ontario and were amongst the earliest settlers of the area having arrived prior to the Peter Robinson Settlers. We believe that Christopher Robinson who arrived at Smith Township, in the 1830's was a younger brother of our Thomas Robinson. Christopher Robinson was married in Bishopwearmouth, County Durham, England, yet his descendants believe he was born in Northallerton, County of Yorkshire, England. Needless to say we would love to find out where exactly Thomas and Christopher Robinson were born.
Many of our family lines settled near Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Some of our lines arrived in New Brunswick in 1783 as a result of the American Revolution and gradually migrated to either Ontario County or York County. From there people tended to either stay, or migrate further westward.
The family names that we've been actively researching are: BREULS, CRINES, GARRETT, HAYTON, HERRICK, HOWSON, ILDERTON, MAJOR, METCALFE, POYNTER, PUGH, READ, REMINGTON, REYNOLDS, ROBINSON, SMITH, SWINBANCK, WILLAN, WHITE.
Other family lines of interest to us are:HALL, LIVICK, MANN, PORTER, RUTHERFORD, SLEIGH, MATTHEWS, WADSWORTH, WALTON, WARRAM.
We hope you enjoy our site and look forward to making contact with our many relatives. Please contact us or let us know of any errors we have made. We will continue to update our site.
