Georgian Bay Masters have canceled their Open Water swim scheduled for August 2000 due to the fact that the water is 6-7 feet ! below normal this year.  

Etobicoke Olympium Masters would like to thank all of the clubs, swimmers, volunteers, officials, sponsors and North York Aquatics for supporting this meet and for supporting our decision to delay canceling until the last possible moment.

Etobicoke Olympium Masters Aquatic Club has canceled the 2000 Provincial Championships due to the continuing inside workers strike in the Megacity of Toronto.   Please scroll down for more information.

EOMAC POSITION RE: PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 
Toronto, Monday, April 3, 11:59 pm 

1. The EOMAC Board still feels there is reason to believe a settlement can 
be reached in the current city of Toronto Labour Strike prior to Friday, 
April 7th, 2000. 

2. EOMAC will continue with preparations for this meet up until Wednesday, 
April 5th at 3:00 pm EST. 

3. IF the strike has not ended by 3:00 pm on that date, These Provincial 
Championships will be cancelled. 

4. In the event of meet cancellation, registered participants can expect 
full refunds for all monies paid for registration to date. These refunds 
will be issued within 14 days of meet cancellation. 

5. Registered Swimmers can check for meet cancellation through the 
following sources: 

a. By internet at www.mci.on.ca/msoprovincials/ 
b. By telephone 416 481 9338 
c. Through the Masters Swimming Ontario website:http://www.sentex.net/mso/ 
d. Through your club contact person 
e. Through a teammate who registerd and included a return e-mail address 
on their registration. 
f. By Newsmedia: If there is no settlement announced on the 5:00 or 6:00 
local news on Wednesday, April 5th, then it can be assumed that the meet 
has been cancelled. However, to be sure, please check the website or call 
the number above. 

6. *No refunds for Entry fees will be issued unless the meet is cancelled 
on April 5,2000. 
 

* Special note regarding t-shirt orders 
As a consequence of the labour disruption, pre-ordered t-shirts will not 
be available at the meet. Those who ordered shirts will have to re-confirm 
their order at the awards table and pay an additional $ 2.00 to cover the 
cost of shipping and handling. Those not wishing to take delivery of 
shirts previously ordered will be refunded their money within 14 days by 
mail. 

* Special note regarding grazing: 
As a consequence of the labour disruption, pre-ordered grazing will not be 
available at the meet. Those who ordered grazing will receive a refund 
within 14 days by mail.  

The decision to cancel the meet is one which EOMAC wishes to avoid. 
However, without positive confirmation that the meet will go ahead by 
Wednesday afternoon, EOMAC feels it must take this decision. After 
thorough discussion we feel this position best represents the needs and 
interests of Ontario Masters swimmers as well as the members of EOMAC. 
Your patience and consideration of all our efforts has been greatly 
appreciated, and we hope that this meet can be delivered as scheduled on 
April 7th.

ATTENTION - Latest news reguarding the effect of the potential strike in Toronto on Provincials. 
This notice is from Tony Aitchison, Meet Manger EOMAC.......... 

"It has been brought to our attention that a potential labour dispute may 
effect the ability of EOMAC to run the 2000 Ontario Provincial 
Championships the weekend of April 7-9, 2000. The City of Toronto Inside 
Workers will be in a legal position to strike as of March 26, 2000. 

Inside Workers are essential to the operation of the Etobicoke Olympium 
facility. Should City of Toronto staff be on strike, we have been informed 
by the City that our permit will not be available for these dates. 

We expect to know more on Monday, March 27 and will provide further 
communication to registered Masters participants as it becomes available."
