Postcards from Bournemouth, Dorset, U.K. Dorset countryside and The New Forest.

You are the visitor to this site since 14th October 1999.

These cards are from the town where I was born. I shall always love the countryside and New Forest. It is beautifully green. It does rain a lot, but is not usually severely cold or extremely hot .. unlike Canada where I now live. I prefer to stay in Bournemouth or Weymouth. My favourite small hotel in Bournemouth was called the Redroofs. I wonder if it is still there.

The traffic in the New Forest had such a problem with the famous wild ponies and the King's deer that they have now built culverts under the roads, which the animals have learned to use. - Could be an answer to the many accidents involving wild creatures, which we have around Guelph, Ontario.

and the famous New Forest wild ponies.
Hardy's Cottage, the residence of Thomas Hardy,
The Village of Winterborne Strickland,
Village of Tolpuddle
and Village of Powerstock.

All these villages and the countryside around are famous for their pleasant walking paths and horseback riding facilities. Comfortable pubs may be found for a place to lunch on the "Plowman's Lunch" of fresh rolls and cheese, chicken in a basket, fish and chips etc. Just take your rainwear and "welly boots".
