Glorious Gardens of Cornwall, Lanhydrock, U.K.

August 1999

Weather very varied, but it didn't stop us getting about. The accommodation was fine, very comfortable .. but not one inch of me went in the pool! This house at Lanhydrock was wonderful.

Love A.

Lanhydrock House, with the little Church of St. Hydrock, stands in beautiful wooded parkland overlooking the River Fowley to the south east of Bodmin (and Bodmin Moor - of Sherlock Holmes, Hounds of Baskervilles fame). Mature trees and rare shrubs surround this fine Jacobean mansion, flourishing in the mild climate and there is also a formal garden, laid out with lawns, flower beds and clipped yews, which dates from 1857. (Just forty-three years before my house was built in Canada).
