Sunday 8th October 2006

Isn't it a lovely weekend. Hope you have a good Thanksgiving.
I finished reading "The Devil Wears Prada" .. and was getting pretty sick of it, so I'm glad she finally told the woman where to get off.
I just went into town to return the book to the library. The back streets and old homes are just beautiful with all the leaves golden and masses of chrysanthamums and michaelmas daisies.

My sunroom is coming along alright, but I'm still holding my breath about the roof. How they are going to join it into the side roof I can't imagine. Anyway, they have let me use my back door again and I can sit out in the sun on the floor of the room. It has been so hot out there that I have had to move into the shade.

It should be a really good weekend to do work on the boat. As I said .. typical sucker move on the part of the weather. If you believe/hope this will last your boat could well end up on the bottom!

Another odd thing about this house, which I had forgotten, was that the roof didn't have any "collar ties". (Apparently 100 years ago they didn't think them necessary). I paid someone to put in these ties, but still don't know whether he actually did that. According to the home inspector the roof could "pancake" at any time if it doesn't have the ties! Oh well, there's always something to worry about isn't there.
