Easter 2006
We are a people whose lives are based in story. From the stories of our creation, to the stories of our faith, to the everyday stories of our lives - we are grounded in story.
Next week we will gather as a community to once again hear the stories of Holy Week. From the waving of the palms to the cries of "Crucify Him", we will let the ancient words and rituals take us to a time where we have never been, but which is so much a part of who we are.
In two weeks we will gather to hear the victorious news from the grave - that the tomb is empty - Jesus lives !!! And to celebrate the freedom and salvation and victory that are now ours, because of the sacrifice made by God ~~ on our behalf.
We who have chosen to gather as the parish of St. Andrew's in Kitchener, have many stories to share. In addition to the stories of our faith, we also have the stories of the men, women, and children who are this church. Some of these stories we share during coffee hour, or in home visits, or when chatting on the telephone to someone from our church family. Others are printed on our website and in our bulletin and newsletter.
The pages of this newsletter are again filled with the stories of our parish. In addition to the stories describing the news and events of St. Andrew's, our Stewardship Group has begun a series of "why I come to St. Andrew's" articles. Written by various members of our parish these stories are a good starting point for each of us to reflect on our own story, and our personal reasons for belonging to this particular Christian community.
May the good news story of Easter continue to touch your own life's story, and the lives and stories of all whom you meet along the way.
