My Dear Friends:
Out of scarcity comes abundance.
It seems like an odd statement to make - but is one which I can proclaim
is absolutely valid. For quite often, out of nothing, much is produced.
I think back to my childhood, when unexpected company would drop by and
my mother would look in the cupboard and say "I have nothing to serve them" ...
yet in no time the table was overflowing with delicious food, surrounded by
good friends, and filled with wonderful conversation and laughter.
Out of scarcity comes abundance.
Not too many years ago, many at St. Andrew.s were lamenting that
"we have nothing" ... now as we look into around our church we see many
new faces, positive and affirming attitudes, and ever-expanding ministries.
We continue to be warm and welcoming, and we now gather together in one
of the most beautiful worship spaces in the area.
Out of scarcity comes abundance.
Two thousand years ago... Mary and Joseph found themselves far from home,
in a stable with a newborn baby.
All they had was a donkey, each other, and a promise.
And out of that scarcity, came God.s abundance... Hope, Salvation, Freedom.
Out of scarcity comes abundance.
Have a Holy and Blessed Christmas, and may you find your lives abundantly
filled.
