Autumn 2005
Dear Friends :
As many of you know, I used to jog every morning at 5:30. During that time I was always overcome by the beauty and splendour of a new day: The crispness of the air, the songs of the birds, and the rising sun. The most enjoyable part was always the rabbits ... and how many I would see as I followed my route through our subdivision.
For personal reasons I have had to change my routine, and now jog later in the evening. Those sights and sounds which I valued on my walk are now just only a memory ... but have been replaced by new blessings. The air has a distinctness of its own . not as crisp as in the morning, but still full and fresh . as the day nears its completion. The bird song has been replaced by crickets and owls and the distant hum of the city (plus a few planes passing overhead). The sun has long set, but now a bright moon shines in the sky, with a galaxy of stars. The rabbits are still there, welcoming and encouraging me along my way.
All very different, but still very much appreciated.
As we enter into this time of Thanksgiving, may you have an opportunity to pause and reflect on the world in which we live . maybe even from a different perspective. And may you take the opportunity to offer your thanks to the One from whom all blessing flow, the God who has called us into community with one another.
Blessings,
The Reverend Robert C. Towler
