July 2006
Dear Friends:
Summer 2006 is well underway.
Days are longer, the colours are more vibrant, and the pace of life seems
to have slowed down. That is how it always is with summer ... and many of
us take this time to enjoy the warmer weather and the lighter schedules.
From BBQ's to baseball games, from camping trips to sitting on the patio,
from eating watermelon to long walks in the evening ... summer means
different things to each of us. And yet, we each enjoy it.
Psalm 24 reminds us:
The earth is the Lords, and all that is in it !!!
The Bible teaches us that God made us, and placed us in this wonderful
new creation ... to care for it, and to be faithful stewards of all that
we see. The very first act of good stewardship is recognizing the origin
of these things ... and the tremendous responsibility God has placed in
our hands.
As you stroll through your summer rituals (either alone or with others)
I encourage you to take some time to reflect on the greatness of it all.
Then remember the God who made this earth, and us, and all that surrounds
us -- and give thanks.
