"A Celebration of Flight"

A celebration of hawk migration at one of the premiere hawk watch sites in the United States:
Corpus Christi, Texas at Hazel Bazemore County Park on September 25-October 4, 1998.

A special price of $25.00 will be offered for the entire Lecture series through June 30,1998.

What:   A celebration of hawk migration at one of the premiere hawk watch sites in the United States, Corpus Christi, Texas at Hazel Bazemore Park.

When:   September 25 to October 4, 1998- In 1997, during this same ten day period, 751,926 raptors (90% of the total season) were counted that included 18 of the 22 species seen last year.

Purpose:
1.    To raise public awareness of raptors and hawk migration.
2.      To provide a venue for raptor education and appreciation.
3.      To create an event that would promote the uniqueness of Corpus Christi as the host of this special annual wonder of nature.
4.      To raise funds to promote conservation, to establish an ongoing raptor education program, and to fund our local hawk watch.

A Celebration of night event will be made of three components, the hawk watch itself, educational programs, and a lecture series.

The Corpus Christi Hawk Watch at Hazel Bazemore Park manned daily from 8wn to 6pm by HawkWatch Intemational staff and volunteers that will be available to help  visitors see and identify the raptors.

Educational Programs
Last Chance Forever, a live raptor program that will be given twice daily for four days between September 27 and 30.  Children and seniors admitted free, adults $3.
Sponsored by the Greater Corpus Christi Business Alliance

Interpretive display at Hazel Bazemore Park to be manned daily by hawk watch volunteers as a free service for all visitors.  This will consist of wood cutouts of raptors and migration routes. Sponsored by the volunteers of HWI.

Lecture Series
September 26-Pete Dunne "The Wind Masters", admission $10
Sponsored by AOC of CC, Coastal Bend Audubon, and HWI
Proceeds to go to the above groups.

September 28-Steve Hoffman "HawkWatch Intemational", admission $6
Sponsored by Nature's Bird Center
Proceeds to go to our local hawk watch to fund a spring count and platform.

October I -Peregrine Fund "The Return of the Aplomado Falcon", admission $6
Sponsored by Central Power and Light
Proceeds to go to the Peregrine Fund.

October 3-Brian Wheeler "South Texas Raptors: A Visual Experience"-admission $10
Proceeds to go to establish an ongoing raptor program for Texas, headquartered in Corpus Christi

All programs will be held at CalAllen High School Auditorium and will begin at 8:00 PM.
A special price of $25 will be offered for the entire lecture series through June 30.
