  • Sibley-Monroe list of the birds of the world
  • ABA(American Birding Association) list of Birds of the ABA listing area, which includes Alaska and the Lower 48 states, but not Hawaii.
  • AOU (American Ornithologists Union) list of Birds of North America, including Hawaii

Each list is viewable in taxonomic order, or alphabetically by Latin or English name; a corresponding comma-delimited, zipped text file is available for download.

On each page is a simple search facility. You may enter a string of letters (e.g. robin, bubo bubo, bo bu, ruficol) and names containing the string will be returned.

For those who like to occasionally browse regional birding email without subscribing to the list there are some new lists being posted at:
