MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

Friday 15th December 2006

We have had pleasantly mild weather so far, apart from a bitterly cold time in October. On Wednesday this week I went with Cherry/ Maxey Coach Lines to see the Festival of Northern Lights. We set off at 9.10a.m., which meant I had to get up at 6.30. This always upsets my bio .. because I am accustomed now to sleeping until I wake up.

We stopped for a sandwich and dessert lunch at the Grey Rose in Hanover. Then met "Mrs. Claus" and travelled to The Great Canadian Factory Outlet. Later in the afternoon we visited the Butchart Estate for a guided tour of this beautifully decorated Victorian Home .. and were served hot cider and cookies. This century home was once owned by the original Butchart Family from the Butchart Gardens in Victoria BC. They take bookings for Bed and Breakfast (I think it's about $110 per night). There is a beautiful indoor swimming pool and sitting rooms. All the rooms have private bathroom en suite.

After that Mrs. Claus took us for a cross-country drive ... and I was so tired that I fell asleep!

We had Christmas Turkey Dinner, salad, apple pie, coffee, at the Rusty Gull Restaurant, overlooking the Owen Sound Harbour. That would be a beautiful place to visit in the summer. Then there was a driving tour of the Festival of Northern Lights throughout the town of Owen Sound. We left at about 8 p.m. (after a visit to Tim Hortons' for a decaf and refill the water bottle). Arrived home at about 11.30. Very pleasant days outing.
