Saturday 29th August 1998

Today our friends are getting married and the weather is perfect. The ceremony will be in a little village church and this evening the reception will be in her grandmother's house nearby, with 125 guests.

Later:-

We enjoyed our short stay in France. On the 29th, the day of the wedding, the weather was perfect, warm and sunny but not too hot. The wedding service was in a very pretty village church which the family had decorated with flowers. The priest made a special welcome to "friends who have come all the way from England" - we were very touched by that. The bride had two young attendants, a boy and girl of about 7 years old, very sweet. They walked in front of the bride, not behind as in England.

After the wedding, the guests drove to our friends' grandmother's house about 5 miles away. This is a very old house set in several acres of land and the reception (done by caterers) was in a marquee in the garden. Before the dinner there were drinks in the garden - lots of champagne and trays of delicious canapes, hot and cold, served by waiters - I could get used to that !!

The honeymoon was in Egypt, (a cruise on the Nile).

Now we are back at work The students return to College next week and we are getting ready for the start of the busiest and longest term in the college year. During the Summer we had lots of new equipment installed in the Technology Centres and we are still getting used to it.

Bye for now

all the best from Gill
